Parties and acceptance

The subscription relationship is between Mathar — operated and developed by Mohammad Elhajj Ali, an independent developer — and the school. Users — students, teachers, coordinators and directors — use the platform with accounts issued by their school, and their use is governed by these terms.

Where a signed subscription agreement with the school exists, its wording prevails over these terms in the event of a conflict.

Accounts

• No self sign-up. The school creates and manages every account and is responsible for the accuracy of its data and for disabling accounts of people who leave.
• Age floor: 13 and over. The school undertakes not to create an account for a student under the age of thirteen. Because accounts are created by the school alone, it is the only party able to verify this — and the check sits at creation, not at sign-in.
• Credentials are personal. They may not be shared, and no one may use another person's account.
• Report immediately. Suspected unauthorised access must be reported to the school administration at once so the account can be disabled.
• The director's credentials are shown once only at creation, with a forced password change on first sign-in.

Subscription and fees

• The subscription is annual, per school, set by the number of students, and agreed after the introductory walkthrough.
• It includes a monthly AI usage cap agreed with the school. On reaching the cap, generation of new questions pauses while the rest of the service keeps working.
• If a subscription ends without renewal, sign-in remains available and AI-dependent features stop, with a reasonable window to export data.

Acceptable use

No user may:

• Attempt to reach another school's data or another user's account.
• Attempt to probe, breach or disrupt the platform or the infrastructure it runs on.
• Upload unlawful or abusive content, or content unrelated to the educational process.
• Upload copyrighted work the school has no right to use.
• Use the platform for any commercial purpose beyond the agreed educational one.
• Attempt automated extraction of data, or resell the service.

AI-generated content

Questions, grading and feedback are generated automatically. Despite the independent solve-and-verify step we apply before a question is used, automated systems do get things wrong: an inaccurate question, an unfair grade, or misleading feedback can appear.

Accordingly: a grade produced by the platform is an aid to the teacher, not a replacement for their judgement. The school and the teacher remain responsible for any official grade or academic decision, and a teacher may override any result. We accept no responsibility for an academic decision taken on automated output without review.

Likewise, the unusual-behaviour flags the platform surfaces are prompts for human review, not accusations, and no automated action is taken against a student on their basis.

Ownership

• What the school owns: its curriculum files, its student and staff data, and what is produced through their use of the platform. These remain the school's and a copy can be provided.
• What Mathar owns: the platform itself, its software, interfaces, brand, and the measurement methods it uses.
• A subscription grants no right to copy the platform, derive works from it, or redistribute it.

Availability and maintenance

We aim to keep the service continuously available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. It may pause for maintenance or updates, or because of failures outside our control such as network outages or a provider going down. We try to schedule planned maintenance outside school hours.

Suspension and termination

• We may suspend an account or a school for a serious breach of these terms, or for activity that threatens the security of the platform or another school's data.
• We notify the school before suspending wherever possible, unless delay would increase the harm.
• A school may end its subscription as provided in its agreement.
• After termination the school has a reasonable window to export its data, which is then deleted per the privacy policy.

Limitation of liability

The platform is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law we accept no liability for indirect or consequential loss, for data loss arising from use contrary to these terms, or for an academic decision taken without human review of automated output.

Nothing above limits liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

The applicable law and the dispute-resolution mechanism are set out in the signed subscription agreement with the school. Absent an express provision, an amicable settlement will first be sought within a reasonable period before any other step.

Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms, and the last-updated date at the top of the page changes accordingly. If an amendment is material we notify subscribing schools before it takes effect, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance of the amended version.
